Deep House Cleaning in Waterloo
A deep clean gets to everything a regular visit skips: behind, underneath, inside, and the surfaces that need time and a chemical rather than a wipe.
A deep clean is not a longer regular clean. It is a different list. The regular list keeps a clean house clean. The deep list deals with what has built up over a year or three - the film on the inside of the microwave door, the grey line where the tub meets the tile, the hard-water scale on every fixture in the house, the dust on the top of the kitchen cabinets, the window tracks nobody has opened since the last owner.
What gets added on a deep clean
- Tub, shower and tile scrubbed with dwell time on the grout and the glass, not a pass with a cloth
- Hard-water and lime scale off taps, shower heads, glass doors and toilet bowls
- Inside the oven, inside the fridge and freezer, inside the microwave, range hood and filter degreased
- Cabinet and drawer interiors emptied where you want them done, wiped and relined if you supply liner
- Baseboards, door frames, doors, trim and stair spindles washed by hand
- Blinds, window sills, window tracks and interior glass
- Light fixtures, ceiling fan blades, vent covers and returns
- Behind and under moveable furniture and appliances where they roll out safely
- Walls spot-washed for handprints, scuffs and splatter
Waterloo-specific: hard water
Water in Waterloo Region is hard, and it shows on glass and chrome faster than most people expect. Scale on a shower door is not a cleaning failure, it is mineral deposit, and it needs an acidic descaler and time - not more scrubbing. A deep clean takes it back to bare glass. Keeping it there is what a recurring visit is for.
Older homes, older finishes
In Westmount, Lakeshore and the Beechwood co-op communities we run into original 1960s and 70s tile, unsealed grout, textured ceilings and aluminum tracks. Some of that discolouration is permanent and no product will fix it. We will tell you which is dirt and which is age before we quote, rather than promising a result nobody can deliver.
When to book one
Before a recurring schedule starts, before or after a renovation, before listing the house, before family arrives for the holidays, in the spring when the windows finally open, or when the place just got away from you. Any of those is a normal reason.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a deep clean take?
A typical three-bedroom Waterloo home runs most of a day with two cleaners. Larger Laurelwood and Beechwood houses with three or more bathrooms can take a full day or spill into a second.
Will a deep clean get my grout white again?
It will get out everything that is dirt and soap scum, which is usually most of it. Grout that is stained through or has failed needs to be re-grouted or sealed - a different trade. We will tell you which one you have.
Do I need a deep clean before starting recurring service?
Only if the house is behind. If you have been cleaning regularly yourself, a longer first visit is usually enough. We look before we sell you the bigger job.
